time of year again, The exciting countdown to Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Week
begins as British Fashion Council have announced the thirteen names of the NEWGEN recipients for spring summer
2013. Here at fashion Week Cardiff
we are exited to see the names on the list to watch out for.
The NEWGEN scheme was set up in 1993 by
the British Fashion Council to
spot and support fledging designers as they get their careers off the ground
with 2012 seeing Topshop celebrating
its 10th year of NEWGEN sponsorship.The
support through the sponsorship morphs the design talent of today into the
fashion brands of tomorrow.
NEWGEN showcases the best emerging British based fashion talent. Since its
launch, its alumni include Alexander McQueen, Julian Macdonald, Giles Deacon,
Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Richard Nicoll, RoksandaIlincic, Erdem, Meadham Kirchhoff, Peter Pilotto, Mary Katrantzou, David Koma,
Louise Gray and Holly Fulton. NEWGEN designers are among the must-see collections on schedule every season.

Simone Rocha will this
season receive catwalk sponsorship alongside Michael van der Ham and JW Anderson. These
designers contribute something unique and vibrant to the look of London, from Simone
Rocha's girly/androgynous fusion with a luxe finish to Michael van der Ham's beautiful
mish-mash of appliquéd, patchworked, embellished creations. We're looking
forward to seeing what our newest collaborator, JW Anderson, creates for his
SS13 show.
Presentation
sponsorship has been awarded to ChristopherRaeburn, JJS Lee, LucasNascimento, Marques Almeida, Nasir Mazhar, and Sister by Sibling. Exhibition
sponsorship has been awarded to Palmer/Harding, Huishan Zhang,
Lim Cooper, and Sophia Webster.
